| "Autumn's Light" Martin Fidler 2010-11 acrylic on canvas 62x46cms |
This is one of sixteen pieces of I have been doing in the past few months. The majority of the work focuses on landscape, and woodland in particular; paths through forests, the gold and silver of birch trees, and the majesty of cedar trees.
I will be exhibiting fifteen paintings, as well as, a cartoon of eighteen drawings logging my journey around a park in south London . "FOUR" is a group show at the Gxgallery in Camberwell where I will be exhibiting my paintings and drawing. Gxgallery. 43 Denmark Hill, London SE5 8RS. 3rd to 28th September. Further details of this exhibition and forthcoming shows are available at info@martinfidler.com or mfidler05@aol.com
Walking and recording 'the urban and the green' has become a central focus of my practice. In collaboration with Andrew Stuck at Rethinking Cities, I am now engaged with the development of the Ruskin Walks; leading and encouraging people to look at different aspects of their localities through historical, geographical and social themes, accompanied by their own personalised journals to keep as a record of the walk.
The next Ruskin Walks will be on the 8th and 22nd of September with a look at the geology and physical character of selected streets in Camberwell and Clerkenwell respectively. Booking in advance is essential as numbers are limited. Details about the walking programme and booking are available through andrew@rethinkingcities.net |
